It's striking blue color comes from copper, while the greener shades are a result of iron.
The name "turquoise" is derived from the French pierre turquoise, meaning "Turkish stone", a reference to the ancient trade routes for the mineral, which went through Turkey.
Chinese turquoise is the softest form of the mineral and is considered the best choice for youngsters of all types.
